Steve performs forensic field investigations and testing on building envelopes, waterproofing and structural components, and develops repair designs, specifications, and maintenance plans.

As a licensed engineer and a registered architect, Steve brings over 30 years of experience in the industry and the ability to view projects holistically from a variety of perspectives.   Steve has co-authored a study on masonry façade service life and practices by higher education institutions.  He is actively involved in the Virginia Tech community through graduate studio project critiques and has initiated an ongoing collaboration between Virginia Tech and Montgomery County for a student design competition to enhance local elementary schools.

“Healing the built environment with the most advanced tools, technology, and team is exciting and rewarding for me.  When a client comes forward with a serious building problem, the building usually has visible symptoms stemming from hidden conditions.  We put our hands and instruments on the building to literally scan beneath the surface, and when necessary, we carefully open up the structure to examine the internal construction.  We study all the evidence, diagnose the problem, and design the most appropriate repair.  My first-hand experience converting a structure in distress into a thriving industrial park gave me a sense of satisfaction that I strive to deliver to every client I work with today.”
